Written by the late H. Landon Warner, long-time summer resident of South Bristol and Professor of History at Kenyon College in Ohio, this work represents years of research done by Lannie beginning in the late 1970's and continuing into the early 1980's.
The book includes an introduction that summarizes the early history of the town and discusses architectural styles and sources, maps that pinpoint the location of the houses mentioned in the text, two sections covering the period 1730 to 1915, and eight sections each telling the story of growth of the summer community in a particular area.
