Hunting 2006
|
|
Sometimes you just never know where your luck will take you. While hunting the elusive buck in Grand Falls Township, Zac and friend Mike were sitting, waiting..................
|
|
Mike motioned over to Zac and Zac simply waved back - little did he know that there was a huge bear headed towards them. Instantly Zac raised his rifle and shot - the bear dropped. Zac and Mike struggled to get this bear field dressed and loaded into the truck. Zac even blew a tire on the way out of the tote road. But let the pictures speak for themselves:

| A Thanksgiving to Remember |
| This year the McIntyre's Thanksgiving day would be one to remember. It all started the night before when Steph comes home from college and sits in "the spot" for less than 20 minutes and three does come out. She scopes out the first, realizes it's a baby, but then realizes the second is an adult doe and the third is as well. Without taking time to steady her gun on the tire (yes, if you're a true redneck you have tires at your sitting spot) - she takes aim and fires - this is all around the time of 3:48. With plenty of daylight left she searches and finds no blood trail or hair. |
| The next morning all four of us go to search - we find that she made a perfect miss. |
| Tired from the endless searching Scott, Susan and Steph head back to the house where Zac is just rolling out of bed. Steph and Susan shower and proceed to carry on with Thanksgiving tradition and watch parades. Scott is anxious and bored and heads back out. |
| At approximately 10:30 - he runs into the house and says, "I'm out of bullets, I need help." Steph and I were a little puzzled at first, still not even dressed - but followed the leaders direction - we would help search. Just as we were heading out the door, the lady at the farm calls to say - we found a dead deer. Steph responded that she had fired the night before and it was probably her deer. |
| Puzzled by what to do next, we called on Papa Morse to assist with Steph's deer. They went to the farm where Steph clearly stated - that's a baby - that's not my deer. The deer had been knawed in the hind quarters by coyotes. |
| So Scott, Susan and Zac spread out in the area that Scott had fired. The story goes that there were 2 does followed by an 8 pointer and a 10 pointer. They were in the thickest part of the woods - full of raspberry bushes and alders. |
| There was so much sign that it was hard to follow tracks - so we zigzagged through the thicket. Soon Steph joined the search - not having found her deer. |
| Zac has headed to the far right and we do another walk through the area. Suddenly we heard a shot - from the right. Was it Zac? We called to him and got no response. We all headed to the area where the shot had come - calling to him all the while. Soon Steph was within shouting range to Zac and he confirmed he had shot and gotten one. I said to Scott wouldn't you be mad if that was one of yours that Zac just shot - and he said no I would be happy. |
| So we tredge further into the thicket - and by this time it's about 11:30 - knowing we were expected for Thanksgiving at 12:00. But of course Steph has her cell phone and calls to say we'll be late - not sure how late - but late. |
| We get up to the deer and realize it's not one of the ones that Scott has fired at - but a good sized spike. He was thrashing up a storm in the woods and walked right out to Zac's loaded gun. Scott offers to gut the deer to save time and I take a trip back to the house with some of the guns. |
| At about 12:15 Scott, Zac and Steph arrive back at the house and clean up for dinner. |
| After dinner the coyote deer is further inspected to see if there was a bullet wound. There was not a bullet hole found - but two large teeth marks in the neck. |
